OUR STORY
Who We Are
Hi! Im Alexa. I grew up hiking and camping in the Red River Gorge with my dad, Tom. It’s where I learned to read a trail map, pitch a tent, and appreciate early mornings in the woods. For him, these trips were a tradition; for me, they became a way of life. Over the years, the Gorge has become our go-to place, an escape, a challenge, a constant. It’s more than just beautiful trails to us; it’s where we've had some of our favorite father daughter memories.
We started Gorge Outdoor Collective to make outdoor gear more accessible in a place that sees thousands of people come through every season but has very few places to gear up. Whether you’re a local headed out for a quick hike or a traveler stopping through, we carry all the essentials - hiking boots, trail snacks, camping supplies, and all the small-but-important items you don’t want to forget. Our goal is to keep you comfortable, safe, and well-prepared, without making you drive 45 minutes just to find a dry pair of boots. (and yes, we've had to do that on more than one occasion)

Our Mission
We stock products we believe in (things we actually use in the backcountry) and we’re happy to walk you through what works and why. Whether you’re new to hiking or have years of experience, we’re here to help you feel confident and prepared for whatever the trail throws your way. We just want to make sure you’re set up for a good experience outdoors.
Long term, we’re building more than a store. We want Gorge Outdoor Collective to be a space for community. A place where hikers can connect, swap tips, and learn from one another. We’ll be hosting workshops, group prep events, and educational sessions for all kinds of explorers, including some specifically for solo female hikers. The outdoors should feel welcoming, empowering, and safe for everyone, and we’re here to help make that happen.
